McKinley is at the top of his cage!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
He does not look like a J yet and he is 2 inches. At 5:00 p.m. has just started spinning his chrysalis. ![]()
Adrian says: I like McKinley, I love Oma . 🙂

Today was the last day of Nature Explorer Camp.
On day 1 we took a walk, saw some real stuffed animals and made some bug nets.
On day 2 we made shirts, we had a bog tromp, ate cattail and got soaked in the river!
On day 3 we played “bugs, insects and spiders”, played hide and seek, petted Vincent (the turkey) and Adrian wanted me to kidnap him!
Opa sent us some pictures and here they are!![]()
Oma with Aunt Debbie by a glacier. Is this Exit Glacier? ![]()
Opa said this Dall Sheep was between Bird and Beluga Points. Uncle Dan saw one closer, but did not have a camera 🙁
He said “at Placer River crews were cleaning up several freight cars that had been swept off the rail by an avalanche this past winter.”
This is a picture of McKinley. He is one week old.
:( We think the other Monarch eggs died before they hatched . 🙁 They are supposed to hatch between 4 and 7 days, and it has been 8 days. Their leaves got all moldy between last night and today. We put their leaves under our milkweed so that if they do hatch, they will climb and get food.
We will try again.
Here they are!
Welcome to Alaska! Says the moose!
A floe is a chunk of ice that is less than five miles across found in the sea.
Oma and Opa in front of a glacier. Opa is this Surprise Glacier?  If it is, did you hear any noise? Did you see any whales?
I want to go to Alaska with my camera and get some pictures of Bald Eagles–hopefully!
P.S. We have two Monarch eggs with dots on them. I call the Cyeggs–Cyclops eggs– because they look like they have one eye before the caterpillars come out of their eggs.
Oma and Opa are in Alaska.  They are visiting Opa’s sister, Aunt Debbie, and Uncle Dan. They want to see some moose. I want them to see a bear! Hopefully they have a camera and use it 🙂 . If they send me pictures, I will post them here. Please send me pictures Oma!
They said that it is still bright around 3:00 a.m. Now you know why it is called the Land of the Midnight Sun.
Jo-you-know that Juneau is the capital?
I like this picture because it shows the real size of Alaska. It is BIG!
The Iditarod dog sled race goes from Anchorage to Nome. It is to honor people who race sled dogs because in 1925 children needed medicine because they had diphtheria. Dog sleds were the only thing that could get where they were and get the medicine there.
I am going to learn more about Alaska this week. I’llaska Momma and Daddy if we can go to Alaska someday soon 😉
Here is a picture of my dream Float Plane. The two middle bottom window are where it lands so you can take pictures of underwater and watch it. The two on the side are for stability and passenger seat windows.   The top window is for the pilot and co-pilot, the extra wings are for stability and if you run out of gas, it glides nicely. The one on the top has motors so the motors don’t get wet, the big “wheel” at the back is the main engine that you can get wet.
We found between 8-10 Monarch eggs down the road. We are going to raise them. We are trying to keep them all the same age this year.
We are also going to put sand on the bottom of their cages when they get bigger. We only have to pour out the sand and put in clean sand to clean their cages.
Because we got them early, we can do twice as many (Momma says maybe) and let them mate. Then they can lay eggs. This set will last only a couple of weeks before dying so they have to lay their eggs quickly. Maybe we can watch the babies grow. 🙂
P.S. Do you have any ideas on how to raise Luna Moths?  That would be fun too.  Momma said we could if we learn how and where to get the eggs or caterpillars and food.
today was : (tick one)
If you answered 1 and 5, you are right!
We lost my soccer game 4-12! Momma said we played hard and looked like we were having fun. She also said the other team played to win. Who had the best time? Me!
We went to Rhapsody in Green (Grandpa played the french horn good)
Tore down the coffee shop (please pray that we sell lots of stuff soon)
We made Journey Cakes (or jonny-cakes) today.
here is how:
Pour corn meal into a bowl with salt and maple syrup. Add enough water to make a stiff dough. Drop onto greased pan and bake for about 6 minutes per side. Serve with maple syrup.
