Stay out of here crows!…

…”Any bird of brain will know you ar only stuffed with straw ” (leaves)

we made a… guess …(hint 1) s-k-a-r-o (hint 2) c-r-o-w!Strongest Scarecrow in the World!

We had raked the leaves. Adrian did not want to play in them. I played in them. I made myself a scarecrow! I am the Strongest Scarecrow in the World!

W. W. Denslow’s Scarecrow, Dorothy, and Toto 1900 (From Wikipedia)We are reading The Wonderful Wizard of Oz by Frank Baum. Here is a picture of Dorothy and the Scarecrow. W. W. Denslow drew the picture for the first printing. The picture is very artistic! I like it!

I am not going to tell you lots of it, because I want you to read it. The Scarecrow’s name is Scar-a-crow. Dorothy’s dog is Toto. Dorothy is Dorothy. “I want some brains”, the scarecrow says. He was made “only the day before yesterday.”

They meet up with a tin woodman (named the Tin Woodman). He became a tin woodman because he was a real man. He fell in love with a Munchkin. A witch made his axe magical and he kept cutting parts of him off. The tin tinker kept making tin body parts so the woodman could keep working. Eventually, he became all tin and forgot to oil himself and rusted!

They also meet a lion called the Cowardly Lion. He was born cowardly. He always was a lion so probably did not go through much changing. (Unless evolution is true, then he could have evolved from mud)

Lazy ScarecrowThey are off to see the wonderful wizard of Oz! Momma says the book is different than the movie. I like the book!

We made our own scarecrow. I hope when you read the book, you like it enough to make your own scarecrow. Please send me a picture if you do!

Trying to Blow Up the lab, as Boss Puts It!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Always wear safety glasses!Science

Yesterday we were Trying to Blow Up the lab, well the Boss (geass who) Puts It that way.

Pour the substancerecipe :1 package of yeast

2 table spoons sugar

1 cup warm waterAttach balloon

Put the substance in small soda bottle.

What is happeningPut the balloon over the top.

Shake it lots! 8) 🙂

wate 🙁 🙁

The balloon should blow up! Because it prodosis carbon dioxide. It shows us that gas takes up space.

Our next experiment, we’re going to see if we can the balloon bigger (or blow up the lab!)

Watch carefully

Math of the Day

This is from my math book. I want to see who all can do it (Momma told me that I have two relatives who may not be able to do it) Giggle giggle giggle.

Some of them are real problems from my math book today. Some of them are from my brain.

1.) 3/2 x 15 =

2.) 1/3 x 15 =

3.) 12 x 1/2 =

4.) 7/5 x 15 =

5.) 100 x 2/100 =

6.) 5 x 1/2 =

7.) 99 x 1/3=

8.) 3 x 1/2=

Here are the parts of a fraction. Numerator(on top)/denominator (on bottom).

Here is an example. There are 8 people in a family. There is only one big cookie. Everybody wants it. What do you do? A) Bake a new batch B) Divide it equally into 8 parts. Each part will be 1/8 of the cookie. (and a lot less calories) 8)

If I was the person in charge of the family, I would chose A. Right now I would choose B because we don’t have the time! So it is much easier to slice, slice, slice!

I want you to comment and tell me the answers, what you think!

Thanks! Giggle, giggle giggle.

Very Interesting News Article

I learned about this first from Oma.  Her brother sent an e-mail to her, that’s how she learned about it.

ABear rescued from bridge bear was saved from Rainbow Bridge, in California by Route 66 sign. A bear had fallen and caught himself (or herself) to safety. Later, the next day, some people had a net under him (0r her) and shot him (or her) with a trans (whatever gun). He (or she) fell into the net and he (or she) climbed out when they got the net to the bottom. Click here to see where we got this picture from.

Click here to go to the rest of the story.

I learned that Rainbow Bridge was built in 1925 near Lake Tahoe near California. The capital of California is Sacramento. California is west of us. If you go west of California you will get to the Pacific Ocean.

Silly me, when Momma said when the bridge was built (because it says above the bear) I thought she said the rescue was when the bridge was built. I asked her “how did they get the colored pictures?”

Poem

Apples for picking

Here is a poem that would be like one that my great grandma would have told me. SheGreat Grandma telling me a poem liked fall. She liked the leaves changing colors. We went on walks and watched the leaves fall.

ApplesWhile we were walking today we saw leaves falling and geese flying. That means it is almost fall!

I like the fall. I like to jump in the leaves after we rake them (so raking ties in with one of my favorite things in the fall). I like to find leaves and press them. I like to pick apples and make APPLESAUCE!

Something Told the Wild Geese

Something told the wild geese
It was time to go.
Though the fields lay golden
Something whispered, “snow.”
Leaves were green and stirring,
Berries, luster-glossed,
But beneath warm feathers
But something cautioned, “frost.”
All the sagging orchards
Steamed with amber spices
But each wild breast stiffened
At remembered ice.
Something told the wild geese
It was time to fly –
Summer sun was on their wings,
Winter in their cry.

The finished product….

completed.jpg

It turned the wrong way, I am kind of disappointed. It was not the way we wanted it to, it got stuck. If it went the other way, it would not have got stuck.

It was loud when it was on. It sounded like my “Weasel” robot. Momma says like a dentist’s drill!  Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz!silly.jpg

putting-together.jpg Here we are working, and here we are playing!

Here is a roller coaster web site to go to.  At this park you can design your own roller coaster!  It is neat, cool and fun.  I’m going to play it now with Andrea.

Andrea wanted me to say that we have been praying for rain. It rained! We got 4 inches in our pool!!

She also wanted to send more smiles for the day!

Science Class

tow strok you know tanks wikopda At Science Class I am learning about engines. This is a two stroke engine. I am NOT making a two stroke engine though it does look like it is less complicated.

(Click on the pictures ((they are coooollllllll))) 🙂

Four stroke engine at work (thanks Wikipedia!)On the four stroke engine, the more complicated looking one, if you look at the right of the number toward the circle right above it is called the cylinder block. The one that looks like it is metal is what a cylinder block looks like.

I have learned cylinder block, oil pan, motor stand, pistons (mixes everything up I think) piston heads, piston pins, and piston connectors.

Maybe I will make one of my own.

I will tell you more later. siilunder blokb thinks wekopda
