I went to Webelos camp. I got to do lots of fun things like archery, BB’s, swimming, knot tying, skits and lots more! We even had a water balloon battle. We had a lot of fun.
We were one of the two teams that did not touch the flag
(that meant that we did not really win). The reason that we did not touch the flag was because we ran out of water balloons (“amo”). We still had most of the kids left by the time we ran out of amo. If I was still, I would have just gone for the flag, but I got hit (killed).
I learned how to tie a horse to a stake or a post. I took fishing lessons. The fish I caught “kicked” the hook on to Daddy’s finger ): he he he. It hurt Daddy but it was funny.Â
One of the people at the fishing practice caught the same fish over and over and over. I learned a few more songs to annoy my momma. Want me to sing them to you?
My favorite thing was learning the songs and getting beads. I earned them by going to activities and by being a waiter for lunch.
One of the songs we learned was “Mary had a little lamb, little lamb, little lamb, Mary had a little lamb with tators and some pie!” (Sung to the tune of Mary had a little lamb).
Thank you for praying that there were not too many mosquito bites. It only rained three times one day and they were short rain. It was fun!
We made “Snake Meat” for Daddy’s birthday. It is special because Daddy had it in Africa and liked it. — it is also a fun braai food.–
I hope you like it too.![]()
how to make Snake Meat (otherwise known as Beorewors)
1 pound trimmed brisket
1 pound pork round roast
1/4 pound bacon
2 Tbl red wine vinegar
4 cloves garlic![]()
1 Table Worcestershire sauce
1/2 tablespoon salt
Pepper to taste (a big pinch)
1/2 Tbl ground coriander
Large pinch of grated nutmeg, dried thyme and allspice
Small pinch of ground cloves
Sausage casings![]()
Dice all the meat into 1 inch cubes. Mix all ingredients-except casings-together.
Grind meat using a medium size grinding plate. (It was fun using ours for the first time!)
Fill casings firmly, but not to tightly. Be careful so the casings do not split open.
Refrigerate for 24 hours before using (we tasted part of ours after refrigerating a few hours)
Can be frozen for 3 months or stored in refrigerator a week.
To use…Fire up your favorite grill and enjoy a braai with your favorite picnic foods. Recommended favorites are Simba Salt and Vinegar Chips or Tomato flavoured chips (If you live in South Africa) 🙂 Plus lots of salads and fresh vegetables.![]()

Happy Birthday to you, Happy Birthday to you,
Happy Birthday Dear Daddy, Happy Birthday to you!
P.S. The girls made Daddy’s brownie and it was GOOODDD!
Uncle Josh, we have a picture of “Machu Picchu”. He is the baby caterpillar. We were waiting for him to get big so we could get a good picture for you.
HE HE HEÂ 🙂
He is getting ready to make his chrysalis. He is in the “J” shape hanging upside down getting ready to “spill his brains.” At least that is what it looks like 😉

We got a video of America hatching . Here is the Butterfly Video!!!!
The baby is not a baby any more, he is making his chrysalis and we will post a picture soon.
Today we saw a calf being born!!!!!!!!!
We went to the fair to see if we could fix Daddy’s hat. Audrey wanted to see the calving center. So we went. One of the cows was having contractions when we got there. We stayed for a little bit and Daddy went to get some food while we were watching.
The calf stuck its hooves out a couple of times. Then two of its hooves came out, then its tongue came out, then its head came out. Then it came out the rest of the way a lot quicker! They had to put a chain on it to help pull it out because it was BIG!
When it was born the vet that was there, did a quick check up, gave the mom a shot and checked to see if there was a twin 😕 Then they told us that the calf was a she. Momma cow started licking and licking. We were told it helped with her milk and it removed any trace or smell of a baby being born in the area. Before cows were domesticated, wolves and other meat eaters would smell the baby and come looking for some food.
We saw the baby try to stand a few times. But we had to leave.
We also got to milk a cow, except for Adrian who touched the cow.
We had a really fun day!
On Monday, Redoubt got out of her chrysalis! She emerged around 11:30. All of the other ones emerged earlier so we thought she was slow. Esther, Georgie and Aunt Gerry came to see her emerge. Esther saw the last half, but everybody else was in the car!

After she emerged, we went to the Bookworm and Grandma and Grandpa’s house. They were having a party for Great Grandma.![]()
When we got home we fed her and gently took her out back where we have some flowers. Then we let her free. She landed on one of the flowers and then flittered away to a tree. We all yelled, “Goodbye Redoubt!”.
America should emerge next week, and the little caterpillar is growing.
Enjoy the pictures!
