I had nothing much to do for a bit because homework got pushed back, so I decided to draw another picture of George. This one illustrates how small dragons start out as.

Dissecting a Shark
Tonight we dissected a shark for marine biology. I don’t think Megan enjoyed it as much as the starfish, but once she got over the smell she had fun finishing it off.
Megan said;
It smelled gross! I liked poking it and it was really fun trying to make it look disgustinger. I poked the eyes into little tiny bits, and made them pop out. They popped back in. I was scrambling the brain.
I think we learned more then my science book planned, like what colour the liquid in an eyeball is and that sharpies draw mustaches on sharks. The book seems just to be concerned with us knowing the location of the “inards”. I am so glad that we are allowed to play with the shark longer and explore on our own.
Why Grandma should go Paragliding with me.
I would like to go paragliding more then snorkeling mostly because it sounds neater. I think that fewer people go paragliding. I do not know the numbers, but you don’t see camps taking the kids on paragliding trips.
Perhaps the reason Grandma should go paragliding with me is to get away from the snakes. When snorkeling you are in danger of encountering both water snakes and the everyday snakes you find on land. When paragliding you only really need to look out for them when you take off and land. The only times you need to look out for flying snakes are when you are in the Amazon or above a Barbarian Horde that is lobbing snakes over castle walls. I don’t know the numbers, but I don’t think those happen very often.
Grandma, shall we schedule a paragliding trip soon?

Trivia question for the day!
For chemistry I needed to balance this chemical equation. Unfortunately, Daddy and I could not figure it out. Can you solve it and show us how you did it?
NH4 ClO3 + Al2(SO4)3 -> Al(ClO3)3 + (NH4)2 SO3
P.S. Yes, we have an answer key, but I want to see someone else figure it out 🙂
Pop Quiz Answer
The other day I asked who said, “A learned blockhead is a greater blockhead than an ignorant one It was Benjamin Franklin!
Good job Opa for having the only correct answer! Momma thought it was Charles Schultz. 🙂

“Simply Sinatra”
Grandpa invited me out for a program called “Simply Sinatra”. It was at the Lerner Theater and mostly old people and a few grandkids were there. The singer’s name was Steve Lippia. He sang songs that Frank Sinatra sang. Grandpa said “he is supposed to sound like Sinatra, but he doesn’t”.
An orchestra played the songs. They did a good job but it was loud even in the back. I think that “New York, New York” was the loudest. Mr. Lippia did that one because it was one of Sinatra’s biggest hits.
Mr. Lippia sang and told jokes. He told how “The Christmas Song” (Chestnuts Roasting over a Open Fire) was written. Two guys who wrote songs together met on a very hot day, and the one noticed the other one had a bunch of sentences about the cold on his notebook. He asked if he was writing a song. The other guy said “I thought if I wrote about cold, it would cool me down.” The first guy said “I think I could make a song about that.” They took the song to a singer and the singer said “It looks good, I am going to record it.” It became one of the most famous Christmas songs.
The program was okay. The only song that I knew in the first half was the first song, “Sleigh Ride”. Then the rest of that half was love songs. I was tired of them very quickly. The second part was tons better. I liked it because it was mostly Christmas songs. I liked the music but some of the songs could have been improved by not singing them 🙂 .
I enjoyed going. Thank you Grandpa.
