“Swinging”

PlayingI like swinging or spinning Megan in the air. She likes swinging and spinning lots.   She giggles and giggles and when I am done she says “Spin me more Marky pleeeeese.”

Mommy likes Megan’s hair flying and her smile so yesterday  she took us outside for a photo shoot.

This is our favorite one.

Surprise!

When we were in Colorado for vacation, Mommy and I were walking around a barn to get some pictures of me. I liked the old stuff on the barn and Momma wanted a “cowboy” picture of me to compare how much I had changed in two years.

As we walked on the path, we heard a loud rain stick sound! It surprised us! We saw the snake –I don’t know how big it really was, but it looked huge to us–and Momma yelled to Andrea to get Daddy.  I ran to tell Daddy and Opa that we had seen one, but when they got there, the snake had disappeared under the old bunkhouse. We heard it rattle when we whacked the side of the building with a stick. We needed to know where it was and we hoped to find it to make it “extinct”.

By the time we borrowed a spade from Uncle Bill, it had disappeared. We never did find it.

Pole Barn

The next night, we went to Aunt Francis’s for dinner. Uncle Phil and Aunt Michelle saw a rattlesnake. That one did not escape and Uncle Lawrence pulled off the rattles to give to me.I think it was Uncle Bill who said that we saw two unique rattlesnakes. He said “most rattlesnakes only see one person in their whole life.” Momma thought, “cool, there are not many rattle snakes around”, then she realized what he meant 🙂

Rattle Snake

I had never seen a wild rattlesnake before and this time we saw two!

P.S.  Even though Momma had the camera, she never took a picture of our snake. I really don’t know why. She also did not take the cowboy pictures of me. She refused to walk around the bunk house even in her cowboy boots.  Daddy took the pictures for me later that day.  We think the rattlesnake moved to a new home, we never did hear it rattle again.

Mine

I have been trying to figure out how to put a video and a stop-motion together so I can make better videos. This is the  one I have been working on for awhile and finally figured out yesterday. If you click on the link you should see it. Please let me know what you think about it.

UPDATE: If the one above does not work try one of these. “Mine”    Mine2  If  these do not work either let me know and I  will ask Daddy to see if he can fix them.

Camp

MarkAt 5:24 this morning, we left for camp.  We will be traveling to Lake Ann, in Michigan for the week. I have a three day rafting trip and some “high adventure” activities.

Please pray for us as we travel and safety at camp!  Thank you!

Hat

Cowgirl MeganDaddy got me a cowboy hat for a surprise. I’ve been trying to get Megan to wear it for some pictures and yesterday  she finally did!  I’m also trying other pictures with it.

Here are my favorites. Megan closeup

Guess what I saw today!

Fawn stareToday, while Mommy was driving around the park we saw a doe with her fawn! Mom stopped the car and I got out to see if I could get a picture.  There was a small clump of trees that they had run into so I walked around it and did not see them. Mommy pointed for me to go around again so I did. As I was walking around, the fawn ran straight at me, stopped and ran around me!

I think it got within 3 yards of me before running away. I’ve never had a deer that close.Fawn runningfawn

Archery

Mark
I am so tall I have to aim so much lower then the target seems to be.

This week while Audrey and Adrian are doing nature camp, Andrea and I are doing Archery camp. We are having fun.

I have not learned much more then at Scout Camp yet but I learned why I could not hit the target! I am right handed, so at camp (a few years ago) I was taught to shoot right handed. I shot left handed today because I learned  I am left eye dominate. It worked! I hit the target.

This week we will be learning the basics of archery like how to stand correctly and shooting the target. I think I will have a lot of fun!

Camp Photographer

Mark 14 June 2013I had volunteered to be photographer for camp last week. It was a camp for Junior Master Naturalists. I was wanting this camp for awhile because I was either too old or to young for all the camps. The lady in charge said that the reason she asked me to do it was that I had been wanting this class for awhile and that they took too long to set it up so I was too old for it.

The class was fun we went to lots of parks and learned about lots of stuff. The last day was more of a fun day and everyone got their caricature drawn.
