Ice Bubbles

Playing catchThis morning we went outside to take pictures of Ice Bubbles. To make them you need bubble mixture, wands, a VERY cold day, very warm clothes (don’t forget mittens and hats!) and, of course, a camera!

Go outside when the temperature is below freezing and blow some bubbles. Try to catch them on the wand or just let them float away. As you watch them they will start to get “foggy”. If they pop when they get like that, they will look like plastic wrap that has been crumpled up and is floating away…..

Or, you can make them land on something cold. If it works–it takes some practice–you can watch them freeze.  Then after they are frozen, to make them even neater, poke them with your bubble wand.  There will be a hole in the bubble, but the bubble will still be there.

Tasting Weird Food

The other day Daddy brought us some shellfish to try.We think they were clams. They were frozen so Mommy defrosted and then steamed them. Then we added garlic and butter.

I thought they tasted like sandy fish…

Audrey thought they tasted … ummmm … well… OK…?

Every one else who tasted them thought they were GROSS!

Here are the reactions… (I HIGHLY recommend double clicking on Megan’s picture to see it full size!)

While we were in Colorado last year, we went to Uncle Bill’s house. He had parked his car by the windmill and with the mountain in the background, I thought it looked neat.  I asked Momma for her camera and got a picture of it.

The original wasn’t very good.It was a little too dark for the camera so the picture was gritty and a little blurry. If I had a tripod, it would have been better. This week Mommy has been practicing her “computer magic” and fixed the picture to look like this.

Bible Cover

Bible CoverFor Christmas Momma and Daddy got me a Bible. I did not have a cover that fit it. So I asked Momma if she could help me make a Bible cover using one of Great Grandma’s shirts. Momma had saved some shirts because she thought she could use it on a quilt she has been wanting to make.  I remember a red shirt more, but it did not look right for the Bible cover.  The inside is lined with more of the green.

I wanted to use the shirt because Great Grandma was my first best friend.  I miss sitting on her lap and reading with her. (Though Momma said I would not fit anymore 🙂 ) Grandma liked to sit and read with us. We would watch the birds together while she told me stories.

Momma found these fun pictures of me with Grandma!grandma

This is my 400th post!

Why is that exciting? The answer is simple, because it is.  🙂

Snow!

It snowed yesterday!!!! We like snow LOTS!

When Andrea and I went to work we brought the camera and got some pictures of snowy Alpacas. The brown Alpacas were the ones who we got the best pictures of, this is one of my favorite pictures with Wicket.

More Experimenting with Oil Pastels

“Nutcracker Under Tree” By Mark McGuire
Done with Oil Pastels
19 December 2012

This summer when  Momma took us to Hobby lobby we found some very inexpensive oil pastels. I asked her if we could get some because I had been wanting some nice paints. She said yes we could get them.

Today we were painting and I decided to bring them up to try them out. They felt like crayons, only less waxy.  They smelled like paint. I prefer them over watercolor or crayons. I like how you don’t have to wait for them to dry like other paints. Not  having to clean up a brush is nice too!

I am glad that I got to try them, I really like what I can do with them.
