Sign of Spring

Are you enjoying the slushly spring weather?  Today  we went out to look for signs of spring. Some of our gardens are turning green!  There are also buckets by our maple trees. (we have made 15½ cups of syrup already) We also noticed that there is not much snow on the ground….

Soccer

… And with the snow out of the way, it is time to get out cleats, shin guards and soccer balls!

  1. How old does a maple tree have to be before you can tap it? We mostly have cherry, oak, and I think hickory.

  2. I don’t know how old, but you can use one tap (spile) for trees at least 31 inches in circumference. Two spiles between 64-79 inches, and no more than three taps for trees larger than 80 inches.
