Yesterday Audrey wanted Funnel Cakes at the 4HFair but Mama said, “we can make them at home.”
So here is the
Recipe for Funnel Cakes
- 2 Eggs lightly beaten
- 1.5 cups milk
- 1/4 cup packed brown sugar
- 2 cups flour
- 1.5 teaspoon baking powder
- Oil for deep frying
- Powdered sugar or Cinnamon sugar
Combine eggs, milk and brown sugar in large bowl. Add flour and baking powder and mix until smooth.
Heat oil in large cast iron skillet to 375 degrees. Cover the bottom of a funnel spout with your finger and pour in about 1/2 cup batter. Hold funnel several inches above hot oil remove finger and carefully pour batter in a criss cross pattern.
Fry for 2 minutes per side or until golden brown.
Drain on paper towels. Sprinkle with powdered sugar or cinnamon sugar. Let cool just a bit and eat warm.
