Corn Dogs

We made corn dogs Saturday because we like them. Momma found a recipe for them!

  • 1/2 cup cornmeal

    this is fun
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 Tablespoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 Tablespoon sugar
  • 1 cup evaporated milk
  • 1 beaten egg
  • 1/4 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon dry mustard
  • Dash pepper
  • 10-12 hot dogs.  Make sure they are thawed out, dry and dusted with corn starch

  • 10-12 wooden skewers
  • Oil for deep frying.
  1. In a medium bowl, combine dry ingredients. Stir in eggs and milk. Mix well.
  2. Pour batter in large deep glass.
  3. Preheat oil to 375 degrees Fahrenheit in a deep saucepan over medium heat.
  4. Insert wooden skewers into hot dogs.
  5. Dip hot dogs in batter until well coated.
  6. Fry 2 or 3 corn dogs at a time until lightly browned, about 3 minutes.
  7. Drain on paper towels.
  8. Drop remaining batter by tablespoon full and deep fry until cooked through.
  9. Daddy said that we should have tried cheese cubes dipped in the batter and fry that.
